Nope, I'm not back and not planning on coming back. I've just been on here a bit lately because my lovely junior friend and I are messaging other back and forth on here. She's the only reason why I come here, so yeah... I have no idea why I'm typing this up. I guess I just wanted to say hi. I've been getting messages and comments from people who have seen me "online" ... so yeah, figured I'd be polite.
I hope everyone is doing well. My finals ended yesterday. I'm on break for five weeks, so I'm just lounging around and being lazy as hell. SO. FREAKING. AWESOME.
Other than that, nothing much has happened. Just life, trying to keep my head held up high without losing my sanity. I'm hella excited for basketball to start up again! Christmas Day! YAY!!!
Oh, and my best friend and I saw Trans-Siberian Orchestra live. Seriously KICK ASS!!! My mind was blown away! Ummmm... and yeah. That's pretty much it.
As far as my post-dA work and adventures go, I just finished taking Graphic Computer Illustration. Basically we learned a lot in depth about Adobe Illustrator which I now own and use all the time. I love it! My work isn't all that great, though. Compared to others in my class, my work is something my 10 year old brother can do, but ohhhh well. Still working hard on my photography, of course. Wasn't in a class this semester and I won't be next semester either. They're just so hard to get in. So many people have priority over me, so yeah... I get whatever is left over when it's finally my turn to sign up. Pretty lame, but that's how college works. I'll get into more classes, eventually. Until then, I continue to read through photography books, practice outdoors and indoors, and just learn more with my own hands on experiences. Next semester I'm not taking any graphic design classes either. Next semester it's just me and general-education. I'm like... 57% through all my gen-ed requirements and I'm half-way into my sophomore year. I'm not kidding. It's a lot of work, but hell... it's better than not going to school at all.
Good-bye, Japanese! Hello, American Sign Language! I felt inspired over the summer break to take ASL. My friends were sure it was a little phase I was going through and that I would regret signing up for it, but I listened to my heart and I went for what I thought was best. I just finished taking American Sign Language I and it was the best class EVER! I learned so much, my teacher was a Godsend she was THAT AWESOME, and I've had mind blowing and amazing experiences in the deaf community. Taking that class was seriously one of the best decisions I made in my life. It doesn't end here for me, though! I plan to keep going! Hell, maybe get my AA Degree in Deaf Studies! Haha... we'll see since I already have so much other crap to do with my other two majors, but that's how much I love and enjoy learning. Unlike Japanese, I step OUTSIDE and have interactions with deaf people. Although I would love to learn Japanese, go to Japan, etc, I finally understand why so many people were discouraging me from learning and now I could care less. I've also met some amazing people, both hearing that are also learning ASL and deaf people. Like I said: Best decision I ever made. Unfortunately, I'm unable to get into an ASL II class ANYWHERE, so next semester I'm expanding on what I learned in ASL I and taking a Classifiers class. I could spend all day explaining what classifiers in ASL are, but then I'd confuse you, so you should look it up yourself if you're interested to know what I'm doing (
